European elections • 23 - 26 May

Why vote?

Like cooperatives, Europe must be built by the people, for the people. Cooperatives give over 127 million people across the EU the opportunity to directly address the needs of their communities, decide how the businesses are run and share their profits with their members. For even more people to benefit from the cooperative difference, support of the European Parliament and cooperatives’ inclusion in various EU policies is therefore crucial.

The European Parliament makes big decisions: how to grow the economy, how to transition to renewable energy, how to make sure that the food we eat is safe. When you vote, you choose who makes these decisions and what they mean for the sort of world you want to live in. If you don’t vote, you have no say.

As cooperators, democracy and self-responsibility are cornerstones of all our actions. This is why Cooperatives Europe encourages every member, cooperator, partner and ally to pledge: “This time I’m voting.” And encourage others to do the same.
